The idea came from the sculptor’s desire to witness the feeling of solidarity between men. A sentiment that is all too often betrayed today, but still true and alive in seafarers. In other words, starting from this environmental specificity, the artist sought to capture in the gesture of help and rescue of an adult towards a child at sea, the image of giving life for life’s sake. The concept of the castaway at sea would like to extend to the universality of men shipwrecked in life, too alone, too lost, often indifferent to their own lives and those of others.
