Tramonto sul mare [Sunset over the sea], 1995

The inspiration for this work was the natural spectacle of the sunset over the sea and the infinite reflections of light shimmering on the vibrant water. These nuances are rendered on the stone by means of a succession of planes treated with different techniques in order to obtain different chiaroscuro tones that give the impression of waves following each other in the dying light of the sun. Some of these planes continue on the surrounding rocks, giving the impression of continuity. The work won first prize ex-aequo in the Youth category.
